05 May 3 Ideas for Old Photo Albums
Old Photo Albums are really amazing! But they are often falling apart and difficult to handle. This blog will provide a few suggestions of what to do with the old photo albums, how to preserve the albums and how to continue to enjoy their content.
Are you lucky enough to have had grandparents or other relatives who kept photo albums in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s?

Are you now the proud owner of photo albums that fall apart as you try to look through them?

You can’t look through them because they disintegrate in your hands, but you don’t want to throw them out because they hold so much family history and so much nostalgia. Here are a few suggestions:
- 1). Scanning
The very first thing to do is to have the albums scanned at a high resolution on a photo scanner. The photo scanner has the depth of color that an all-in-one printer/scanner does not have. You want the high resolution so the pictures, once digitized, could be enlarged without losing any of the details such as the writing on the pages.

- 2). Preserving
Once the album and all of its pages have been digitized, it is best to handle the album as little as possible. The best way to preserve the album is to place it in an archival box or an archival sleeve.

- 3). Enjoying
Once the album pages have been digitized and the albums have been preserved properly, you can sit back and enjoy the pictures! You could view them yourself or share them with friends and family.
- 3). Enjoying
You could view the digitized album pages on your computer or phone:

Or, you could create a new photo book with each of the pages:

Old photo albums contain so much family history, it would be a shame to let them deteriorate and become impossible to handle. It is definitely better to scan and preserve the albums sooner rather than later.
